DA Arrear Hike – 2023: Central Government employees are waiting for the decision on Dearness Allowances in the first six months of this year! It is expected that the government will take a decision on increasing the DA hike in the month of March. Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh government has issued an order to increase the dearness allowance of the state government employees by four percent.

The government can increase the Dearness Allowances of more than one crore employees and pensioners by 4%. With this DA (DA) will increase from the current 38% to 42%! The DA arrears are increased twice from time to time on a half yearly basis and are calculated as a percentage of the basic pay of the employees.

Dearness Allowances means the cost of accommodation provided to these employees. To help the employees cope with the rising cost as a result of high inflation, the government pays an increase in DA (DA Hike). For Central Government Employees: DA (DA Arrear Hike) is calculated as follows! All India average of Consumer Price Index for last 12 months (Base year -2001 = 100) -115.76)/115.76} x 100 !
For Central Public Sector Employees, Dearness Allowances is calculated. All India average of Consumer Price Index for last 3 months (Base year -2001 = 100) -126.33)/126.33} x 100 !

In September last year, the government had increased DA from 4% to 38% with effect from July 1, 2022. This was an increase of 34% between January and June 2022!
