The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization is reviewing the excess pension of members who retired before September 1, 2014. Actually the EPFO members who did not opt for higher pension are still getting higher pension. Now EPFO can cut the pension of such members who get more pension. Additional pension will also be recovered from the members.

EPFO in its January 25 circular said that the cases of retired employees who have not opted for higher pension before September 1, 2014 will be reviewed. The cases in which more pension is being given in the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization will be investigated.
They will not get pension after January 2023. In such a case the pension will be reinstated. There will be a limit of Rs 5,000 or Rs 6,500 on this. According to the guidelines of EPFO, employees will now have to deposit money equal to 8.33% of their basic salary in EPS. Its maximum limit will be Rs 15,000 per month.

The pensioners who did not opt for higher pension were still getting higher pension. Such EPFO members will now get less pension. However, the department will send notices to those members before examining such cases. So that he can prove his case. Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (Employees’ Provident Fund Organization) notice will also be given to pensioners first for pension deduction.
