PM Krishi Udan Yojana 2.0: The central government has launched Krishi Udan Yojana 2.0 (PM Krishi Udan Yojana 2.0) on Wednesday with the aim of doubling the income of farmers. Under this, cargo-related infrastructure will be created at airports located in the North East, hilly and tribal areas to help farmers transport agricultural products.

The Center launched the Krishi Udaan Yojana (PM Krishi Udan Yojana) in September 2020. Under this, air cargo operators have been exempted from parking charges and terminal navigation landing charges etc. The scheme has been started for the farmers and agricultural products.

The Center has now said that the share of agricultural commodities in the total load under Krishi Udaan scheme 2.0 is to be reduced by 50 per cent, even as airport charges are completely waived off at select airports. The Center said that under this scheme, cargo terminals will be set up at airports in a phased manner.

For example, cargo terminals will be set up at airports in Agartala, Srinagar, Dibrugarh, Dimapur, Hubli, Imphal, Jorhat, Lilabari, Lucknow, Silchar, Tezpur, Tirupati and Tuticorin in 2022-23. Cargo terminals will be set up at the airports of Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Jharsuguda, Kozhikode, Mysore, Puducherry, Rajkot and Vijayawada in 2022-23.

Apart from this, under Krishi Udaan-2, the government will encourage the states to reduce the sales tax on aviation fuel by one per cent. Inaugurating the Krishi Udan 2.0 scheme, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the objective of this Krishi Udan Yojana 2.0 (PM Krishi Udan Yojana 2.0) is to double the income of the farmers and lead them towards the goal of making them self-reliant. The government will also encourage airlines under Krishi Udaan Yojana 2.0. The airport will be used to transport agricultural products to different parts of the country. Under the scheme, at least half of the seats in the flights will be given at concessional fares.
