Account in Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana) can be opened in any bank branch or business correspondent outlet!
Accounts opened under this project can be opened with zero balance.
If the account holder wants to get a check book then he has to fulfill the minimum balance criteria.
These accounts (PMJDY Account) will normally be bound for a period of 12 months. After this such accounts will be allowed to continue for a period of 12 more months.

Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana

Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account (PMJDY Account) is not eligible to open any other savings bank account in the bank. If the customer has any other existing savings bank account with the bank. So he has to close the BSBD account within 30 days from the date of opening.
